This year’s Ruth Project Fundraiser is this Saturday, November 4 – and it will be held at The Farm! This Fundraiser will be a unique evening you don’t want to miss. Intentionally designed to be a “down on the farm” experience, this gathering is for all guests who want to visit The Ruth Project Farm for their first time or their fiftieth! Interactive stations, a progressive meal, and homemade desserts will all be included. And of course – a good old-fashioned square dance will end the evening!
Please come! There will be no formal dinner or presentation. Instead, you’ll see first-hand what is going on in the lives of hundreds of children and their foster families. You’ll hear for yourself the many ways you can get involved in the unique way the Lord has gifted you. And, you’ll meet other gifted people who have caught the vision of caring for modern-day orphans and can share the impact it’s made on their own hearts.
Come! Let The Ruth Project make an impact on your heart too, as you help change the trajectory of children in the foster care system and the families who care for them. Click here to purchase your tickets>> http://www.RuthProject.Farm
Earlier this month, Chicago’s Electric Boat Company generously donated boat tours to Ruth Project Families for a Columbus Day Adventure. What a unique and memorable experience! This is the second year in a row the Boat Company blessed our families in this way, and we are overwhelmed by their gift!
Seventy Ruth Project family members enjoyed this adventure – more than double last year’s number. Seven boats loaded with our families set out to tour the Chicago River and see the sights of the big city. It was a beautiful day with perfect temperatures, so kids were able to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine as the boat meandered down the river.
For many of these children, it was the first time they experienced something like this – parents, too! One family was especially grateful their boys were able to see so much of the city, as “they had never seen the different places we saw, including Navy Pier.”
Families connected with one another, forged new friendships, and were encouraged by others traveling their same foster journey. As with all our Family Support Events, numbers were exchanged and plans to connect another day were made. What a gift!
We are so grateful to the Boat Company and their captains who navigated the boats while being so hospitable to our families. This is an experience that widens the world for our children – while creating great family memories.
Tela is our sweet Australian Black Nose sheep. Tela is one of the friendliest of all sheep breeds, which is why he has been such a great addition to The Farm! He is incredibly loving and good-natured – perfect for struggling kids who need to learn to trust. Tela gently nudges for attention and follows closely behind visitors as a calming friend.
Sweet Tela is also a favorite among all the other animals at The Farm. The goats Willow and Fern adore him, and our Highlander cow Rudy loves him as a companion in the pasture. He has even been known to carry a sleeping farm kitten around on his back!
Tela is also special because of his name. “Tela” is actually a Hebrew word for “wounded, blemished lamb,” which is mentioned only once in Scripture in Isaiah 40:11: “He will tend his flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs in his arms.” Tela is a constant reminder that we are all wounded, imperfect sheep yet still incredibly special to the Lord, the Good Shepherd who carries us in His arms!
Next time you’re at The Farm, be sure to say “hello” to Tela the Sheep!
